Use indices i=1,…,3 and j=1,…,4. Fill one row at a time.
Part 1: aᵢⱼ=|−3i+j|/2. For each fixed i, substitute every j in order; the resulting matrix is \(\left[\begin{matrix}1 & \frac{1}{2} & 0 & \frac{1}{2}\\\frac{5}{2} & 2 & \frac{3}{2} & 1\\4 & \frac{7}{2} & 3 & \frac{5}{2}\end{matrix}\right]\).
Part 2: aᵢⱼ=2i−j. For each fixed i, substitute every j in order; the resulting matrix is \(\left[\begin{matrix}1 & 0 & -1 & -2\\3 & 2 & 1 & 0\\5 & 4 & 3 & 2\end{matrix}\right]\).
